Asir bin Jabir reported,

When the people of Yemen arrived, Umar began going through the travel companies, asking, "Is there anyone from Qaran among you?" until he came upon a group from Qaran.He asked, "Who are you?"They replied, "Qaran."Then either Umar's reins or Uways's reins fell, and one of them handed it to the other, by which he recognized him.Umar asked, "What is your name?"He answered, "I am Uways."Umar asked, "Do you have a mother?"He replied, "Yes."Umar asked, "Did you have any patches of whiteness on your skin?"He said, "Yes, but I prayed to Allah and He removed it from me, except for a spot the size of a dirham on my navel, so that I would remember my Lord by it."Umar said to him, "Pray for forgiveness for me."Uways replied, "You are more deserving of seeking forgiveness for me. You are a companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."Umar said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Indeed, the best of the Followers is a man called Uways. He has a mother, and he had whiteness on his skin, so he prayed to Allah and He removed it from him, except for a spot the size of a dirham on his navel.'"So Uways prayed for forgiveness for him, then disappeared into the crowd, and no one knew where he went.The narrator continued, "He came to Kufa. We used to gather in a circle remembering Allah, and he would sit with us. Whenever he spoke, his words would settle in our hearts in a way that no one else's words did." Then he mentioned the rest of the hadith.

حدثنا عفان حدثنا حماد بن سلمة عن سعيد الجريري عن أبي نضرة

عن أسير بن جابر قال

لما أقبل أهل اليمن جعل عمر رضي الله عنه يستقري الرفاق فيقول هل فيكم أحد من قرن حتى أتى على قرن فقال من أنتم قالوا قرن فوقع زمام عمر رضي الله عنه أو زمام أويس فناوله أحدهما الآخر فعرفه فقال عمر ما اسمك قال أنا أويس فقال هل لك والدة قال نعم قال فهل كان بك من البياض شيء قال نعم فدعوت الله عز وجل فأذهبه عني إلا موضع الدرهم من سرتي لأذكر به ربي قال له عمر رضي الله عنه استغفر لي قال أنت أحق أن تستغفر لي أنت صاحب رسول الله ﷺ فقال عمر رضي الله عنه إني سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول إن خير التابعين رجل يقال له أويس وله والدة وكان به بياض فدعا الله عز وجل فأذهبه عنه إلا موضع الدرهم في سرته فاستغفر له ثم دخل في غمار الناس فلم يدر أين وقع قال فقدم الكوفة قال وكنا نجتمع في حلقة فنذكر الله وكان يجلس معنا فكان إذا ذكر هو وقع حديثه من قلوبنا موقعا لا يقع حديث غيره فذكر الحديث
