One day, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting with his garment placed between his thighs. Abu Bakr came and asked permission to enter, and he was granted permission while the Prophet remained in that state. Then Umar came in the same manner, then Ali, then a group of his companions, and the Prophet ﷺ remained as he was. Then Uthman came and asked permission to enter, and the Prophet ﷺ took his garment and covered himself with it. They spoke for a while, then left.I said, "Messenger of Allah, Abu Bakr and Umar and Ali and the rest of your companions came in while you remained as you were, but when Uthman came, you covered yourself with your garment."He replied, "Should I not feel modesty before a man whom even the angels feel modesty before?"
حدثنا روح حدثنا ابن جريج قال أخبرني أبو خالد عن عبد الله بن أبي سعيد المزني قال حدثتني
كان رسول الله ﷺ ذات يوم قد وضع ثوبه بين فخذيه فجاء أبو بكر فاستأذن فأذن له وهو على هيئته ثم عمر بمثل هذه القصة ثم علي ثم ناس من أصحابه والنبي ﷺ على هيئته ثم جاء عثمان فاستأذن فأذن له فأخذ ثوبه فتجلله فتحدثوا ثم خرجوا قلت يا رسول الله جاء أبو بكر وعمر وعلي وسائر أصحابك وأنت على هيئتك فلما جاء عثمان تجللت بثوبك فقال ألا أستحيي ممن تستحيي منه الملائكة
Its chain of transmission is daif, because of Abu Khalid. He said in Tajil, "His name is Uthman or Yazid," then he did not mention anything else. Likewise, there is uncertainty about the identity of Abdullah bin Abu Saeed, and this was not resolved in Tajil, which listed several narrators who transmitted from him, then said, "He is not mentioned with any criticism."The hadith was narrated by Abd bin Humayd, number 1547, and the hadith has already appeared with its wording at 24211.
