Umar bin Khattab reported,

She was told that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had said, "The deceased is punished because of his family's weeping over him."She replied, "May Allah have mercy on Umar and Ibn Umar. By Allah, neither of them is a liar, nor are they being lied to, nor are they adding anything of their own. Rather, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said this about a Jewish man. He passed by his family while they were weeping over him and said, 'They are weeping over him, while Allah is punishing him in his grave.'"

وجدت في كتاب أبي حدثنا حسين بن محمد حدثنا محمد بن راشد عن حبيب بن أبي حبيب عن عبد الرحمن بن القاسم عن أبيه القاسم بن محمد بن أبي بكر عن عائشة أنه بلغها أن ابن عمر يحدث

عن أبيه عمر بن الخطاب

أن رسول الله ﷺ قال الميت يعذب ببكاء أهله عليه فقالت يرحم الله عمر وابن عمر فوالله ما هما بكاذبين ولا مكذبين ولا متزيدين إنما قال ذلك رسول الله ﷺ في رجل من اليهود ومر بأهله وهم يبكون عليه فقال إنهم ليبكون عليه وإن الله عز وجل ليعذبه في قبره
