Ayesha used to say, "We set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with no thought in mind except the Hajj. When we reached Sarif, my menstrual period began. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came in to me while I was weeping and asked, 'What is making you cry?'I replied, 'I wish I had not come out this year.'He said, 'Perhaps you have begun your period?'I answered, 'Yes.'He said, 'This is something Allah has decreed for the daughters of Adam. So do what the pilgrim does, except that you shall not perform the circumambulation of the House until you become pure.'"She continued, "When we arrived in Makkah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his companions, 'Make it an Umrah.' So the people came out of their pilgrim state, except for those who had brought sacrificial animals with them. The sacrificial animals were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Abu Bakr and Umar, and those of means."She continued, "Then they set out, entering the state of consecration for Hajj. On the Day of Sacrifice, I became pure, so the Messenger of Allah sent me forth and I performed the circumambulation. We were brought some beef, and I asked, 'What is this?' They said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sacrificed a cow on behalf of his wives.'"She continued, "On the night of Hasbah, I said, 'Messenger of Allah, the people will return having performed both a Hajj and an Umrah, while I will return with only a Hajj.' So he ordered Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Bakr to take me on his camel behind him."She said, "I still remember that I was a young girl, and I would doze off until the back of the saddle would strike my face, until he brought me to Tanim. There I entered the state of consecration for an Umrah, in compensation for the Umrah the people had performed."

كانت عائشة تقول خرجنا مع رسول الله ﷺ ولا نذكر إلا الحج فلما قدمنا سرف طمثت فدخل علي رسول الله ﷺ وأنا أبكي فقال ما يبكيك قلت وددت أني لم أخرج العام قال لعلك نفست يعني حضت قالت قلت نعم قال إن هذا شيء كتبه الله على بنات آدم فافعلي ما يفعل الحاج غير أن لا تطوفي بالبيت حتى تطهري فلما قدمنا مكة قال رسول الله ﷺ لأصحابه اجعلوها عمرة فحل الناس إلا من كان معه هدي وكان الهدي مع رسول الله ﷺ وأبي بكر وعمر وذوي اليسارة قالت ثم راحوا مهلين بالحج فلما كان يوم النحر طهرت فأرسلني رسول الله فأفضت يعني طفت قالت فأتينا بلحم بقر فقلت ما هذا قالوا هذا رسول الله ﷺ ذبح عن نسائه البقر قالت فلما كانت ليلة الحصبة قلت يا رسول الله يرجع الناس بحجة وعمرة وأرجع بحجة فأمر عبد الرحمن بن أبي بكر فأردفني على جمله قالت فإني لأذكر وأنا جارية حديثة السن أني أنعس فتضرب وجهي مؤخرة الرحل حتى جاء بي التنعيم فأهللت بعمرة جزاء لعمرة الناس التي اعتمروا
