I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the plague, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ told me that it was a punishment Allah used to send upon whomever He willed, but He has made it a mercy for the believers. There is no servant who, when the plague strikes, remains in his home patiently, seeking reward from Allah, knowing that nothing will befall him except what Allah has decreed for him, except that he will receive a reward like that of a martyr.

سألت رسول الله ﷺ عن الطاعون فأخبرني رسول الله ﷺ أنه كان عذابا يبعثه الله على من يشاء فجعله رحمة للمؤمنين فليس من رجل يقع الطاعون فيمكث في بيته صابرا محتسبا يعلم أنه لا يصيبه إلا ما كتب الله له إلا كان له مثل أجر الشهيد
