Ayesha reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "Ayesha, were it not that your people are recent in their break from the days of ignorance, I would have ordered the House to be demolished, and I would have brought back into it what was excluded from it, and lowered it to ground level, and made for it two doors, an eastern door and a western door. They fell short in its construction, so I would have reached with it the foundation of Ibrahim ."

حدثنا يزيد بن هارون قال أخبرنا جرير بن حازم قال حدثنا يزيد بن رومان عن عروة

عن عائشة

أن رسول الله ﷺ قال لها يا عائشة لولا أن قومك حديث عهد بجاهلية لأمرت بالبيت فهدم فأدخلت فيه ما أخرج منه وألزقته بالأرض وجعلت له بابين بابا شرقيا وبابا غربيا فإنهم عجزوا عن بنائه فبلغت به أساس إبراهيم عليه السلام
