I asked Ibn Abbas about nabidh, and he said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade nabidh prepared in earthen jars and gourds. Then I met Ibn Umar and asked him, and he informed me, as I recall, on the authority of Umar, that the Prophet ﷺ forbade nabidh prepared in earthen jars and gourds. Sufyan was uncertain about this.He said, Then I met Ibn Zubayr and asked him, and he said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade nabidh prepared in earthen jars and gourds.
Its isnad is sahih. Mumal is Ibn Ismail Adawi. Salama is Ibn Kuhayl. Imran is Ibn Harith Sulami, Abu Hakam. The hadith is an abridgment of 185. Sufyan's uncertainty here about mentioning Umar does not harm the hadith, for Shubah affirmed it definitively here and in what follows at 360.
