The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would become in a state of major impurity during the night, then he would perform ablution as he did for prayer, and remain so until morning without touching water again.
حدثنا ابن نمير قال حدثنا حجاج عن عبد الرحمن بن الأسود عن أبيه
كان رسول الله ﷺ يجنب من الليل ثم يتوضأ وضوءه للصلاة حتى يصبح ولا يمس ماء
