Ayesha reported,

We set out chanting the talbiyah for Hajj, and when we reached Sarif, I began my menstrual period. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came in while I was weeping and asked, "What is making you cry, Ayesha?"I said, "I have started my period. I wish I had not performed Hajj this year."He said, "Glory be to Allah, this is something Allah has decreed for the daughters of Adam. Perform all the rites as the others do, but do not circle the House."She said, when we entered Mecca, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever wishes to convert it into an Umrah may do so, except for those who have brought sacrificial animals with them."She said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sacrificed cows on behalf of his wives on the Day of Sacrifice. On the night we stayed at Batha, I became pure. I said, "Messenger of Allah, are my companions returning with both a Hajj and an Umrah while I return with only a Hajj?"So he instructed Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Bakr to take me to Tanim, and I chanted the talbiyah for Umrah from there.

حدثنا بهز حدثنا حماد بن سلمة عن عبد الرحمن بن القاسم عن أبيه

عن عائشة قالت

لبينا بالحج حتى إذا كنا بسرف حضت فدخل رسول الله ﷺ وأنا أبكي فقال ما يبكيك يا عائشة قلت حضت ليتني لم أكن حججت قال سبحان الله إنما ذاك شيء كتبه الله عز وجل على بنات آدم انسكي المناسك كلها غير أن لا تطوفي بالبيت قالت فلما دخلنا مكة قال رسول الله ﷺ من شاء أن يجعلها عمرة فليجعلها عمرة إلا من كان معه الهدي قالت وذبح رسول الله ﷺ عن نسائه البقر يوم النحر فلما كانت ليلة البطحاء طهرت فقالت قلت يا رسول الله ﷺ أترجع صواحبي بحجة وعمرة وأرجع أنا بحجة فأمر عبد الرحمن بن أبي بكر فذهب بي إلى التنعيم فلبيت بعمرة
