When the verse of choice was revealed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ began with Ayesha. He said, "Ayesha, I am going to put a matter to you, so do not rush to decide anything about it until you consult your parents, Abu Bakr and Umm Ruman."She asked, "Messenger of Allah, what is it?"He said, "Ayesha, I am going to put a matter to you, so do not rush to decide anything about it until you consult your parents, Abu Bakr and Umm Ruman."She asked, "Messenger of Allah, what is it?"He said, "Ayesha, I am going to put a matter to you, so do not rush to decide anything about it until you consult your parents, Abu Bakr and Umm Ruman."She asked, "Messenger of Allah, what is it?"He said, "Allah has said, 'Prophet, say to your wives, If you desire the life of this world and its adornment, then come, I will provide for you and release you with a fair release. But if you desire Allah and His Messenger and the Home of the Hereafter, then indeed Allah has prepared for the righteous among you a great reward' [Ahzab 33:28–29]."She replied, "I desire Allah and His Messenger and the Home of the Hereafter, and I will not consult my parents, Abu Bakr and Umm Ruman, about that."The Prophet ﷺ laughed, then went around the other rooms and told each wife, "Ayesha said such and such." And each of them said the same as Ayesha had said.

لما أنزلت آية التخيير قال بدأ بعائشة فقال يا عائشة إني عارض عليك أمرا فلا تفتاتن فيه بشيء حتى تعرضيه على أبويك أبي بكر وأم رومان قالت أي رسول الله وما هو قال يا عائشة إني عارض عليك أمرا فلا تفتاتن فيه بشيء حتى تعرضيه على أبويك أبي بكر وأم رومان قالت يا رسول الله وما هو قال يا عائشة إني عارض عليك أمرا فلا تفتاتن فيه بشيء حتى تعرضيه على أبويك أبي بكر وأم رومان قالت يا رسول الله وما هو قال قال الله {يا أيها النبي قل لأزواجك إن كنتن تردن الحياة الدنيا وزينتها فتعالين أمتعكن وأسرحكن سراحا جميلا وإن كنتن تردن الله ورسوله والدار الآخرة فإن الله أعد للمحسنات منكن أجرا عظيما} قالت إني أريد الله ورسوله والدار الآخرة ولا أؤامر في ذلك أبوي أبا بكر وأم رومان قالت فضحك النبي ﷺ ثم استقرأ الحجر فقال إن عائشة قالت كذا وكذا قال فقلن مثل الذي قالت عائشة
