I was a guest at the home of Maymunah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, who was my maternal aunt. It was a night that was not her turn for the Prophet to be with her. She took a cloak, folded it, placed a cushion on it, then threw another cloak over it and got under it. She spread out a mat for me beside her, and I rested my head on the same pillow with her.The Prophet ﷺ came in after he had prayed the late evening prayer. He took a piece of cloth and wrapped it around his waist, removed his garment, and got under the blanket with her. He slept until the latter part of the night came, when he rose and went to a waterskin that was hanging up, and shook it. I thought of getting up to pour water for him, but I disliked that he should see I had been awake.He performed his ablution, then came to his bed, took his two garments, and removed the cloth. Then he went to the prayer place and stood praying. I went to the waterskin, performed my ablution, then came to the prayer place and stood on his left. He reached out and moved me to his right side. He prayed, and I prayed with him, thirteen rakahs.Then he sat down, and I sat beside him. He placed his elbow against his side and inclined his cheek toward my cheek until I heard the breathing of one asleep. While I was in that state, Bilal came and said, "The prayer, Messenger of Allah."He set off to the prayer place, and I followed him. He stood and prayed the two rakahs of Fajr, and Bilal began the iqamah.
حدثنا عبد الله قال وجدت في كتاب أبي بخطه قال حدثنا عبيد الله بن محمد حدثني محمد بن ثابت العبدي العصري قال حدثنا جبلة بن عطية عن إسحاق بن عبد الله
تضيفت ميمونة زوج النبي ﷺ وهي خالتي وهي ليلة إذ لا تصلي فأخذت كساء فثنته وألقت عليه نمرقة ثم رمت عليه بكساء آخر ثم دخلت فيه وبسطت لي بساطا إلى جنبها وتوسدت معها على وسادها فجاء النبي ﷺ وقد صلى العشاء الآخرة فأخذ خرقة فتوازر بها وألقى ثوبه ودخل معها لحافها وبات حتى إذا كان من آخر الليل قام إلى سقاء معلق فحركه فهممت أن أقوم فأصب عليه فكرهت أن يرى أني كنت مستيقظا قال فتوضأ ثم أتى الفراش فأخذ ثوبيه وألقى الخرقة ثم أتى المسجد فقام فيه يصلي وقمت إلى السقاء فتوضأت ثم جئت إلى المسجد فقمت عن يساره فتناولني فأقامني عن يمينه فصلى وصليت معه ثلاث عشرة ركعة ثم قعد وقعدت إلى جنبه فوضع مرفقه إلى جنبه وأصغى بخده إلى خدي حتى سمعت نفس النائم فبينا أنا كذلك إذ جاء بلال فقال الصلاة يا رسول الله فسار إلى المسجد واتبعته فقام يصلي ركعتي الفجر وأخذ بلال في الإقامة
