Ayesha reported,

We set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as the new moon of Dhul-Hijjah was about to appear. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever wishes to enter the state of ihram for an Umrah may do so, and whoever wishes to enter the state of ihram for Hajj may do so. Had I not brought a sacrificial animal with me, I would have entered ihram for an Umrah."She said, "Some of them entered ihram for an Umrah, and some entered ihram for Hajj. I was among those who entered ihram for an Umrah. Then I began menstruating before entering Mecca, and the Day of Arafah came upon me while I was still menstruating. I complained of this to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, 'Set aside your Umrah, undo your hair, comb it, and enter ihram for Hajj.' So I did.When the night of al-Hasbah came, he sent Abdul-Rahman with me to al-Tanim. He had her ride behind him, and she entered ihram for an Umrah in place of her original Umrah. Allah thus completed her Hajj and her Umrah, and none of this required a sacrificial animal, fasting, or charity."

حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد حدثنا هشام قال يحيى أملاه علي هشام قال أخبرني أبي قال أخبرتني

عائشة قالت

خرجنا مع رسول الله ﷺ موافين لهلال ذي الحجة فقال رسول الله ﷺ من أحب أن يهل بعمرة فليهل ومن أحب أن يهل بحجة فليهل فلولا أني أهديت أهللت بعمرة قالت فمنهم من أهل بعمرة ومنهم من أهل بحجة وكنت ممن أهل بعمرة فحضت قبل أن أدخل مكة فأدركني يوم عرفة وأنا حائض فشكوت ذلك إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقال دعي عمرتك وانقضي رأسك وامتشطي وأهلي بالحج ففعلت فلما كانت ليلة الحصبة أرسل معي عبد الرحمن إلى التنعيم فأردفها فأهلت بعمرة مكان عمرتها فقضى الله عز وجل حجها وعمرتها ولم يكن في شيء من ذلك هدي ولا صوم ولا صدقة
