The Prophet ﷺ combined the Dhuhr and Asr prayers in Medina without being on a journey or in a state of fear.I asked, "Abu Abbas, why did he do that?"He replied, "He wanted to spare his community from hardship."

جمع النبي ﷺ بين الظهر والعصر بالمدينة في غير سفر ولا خوف قال قلت يا أبا العباس ولم فعل ذلك قال أراد أن لا يحرج أحدا من أمته
Its isnad is sahih, and it is a repeat of 1953. See also 2269. In H, it says, "That is, he wanted him not to go out," etc, but the word "that" makes no sense here, and it was not mentioned in K, so we omitted it.
