The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Overlook the slips of people of good standing, except in matters of the prescribed punishments."
حدثنا عبد الرحمن حدثنا عبد الملك بن زيد عن محمد بن أبي بكر عن أبيه عن عمرة
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال أقيلو ذوي الهيئات عثراتهم إلا الحدود
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Abdullah bin Zayd is al-Adawi, who is trustworthy, and his hadith appears in the Sunan. Haythami graded the hadith sahih in 6/282, but he attributed it to Tabarani in al-Awsat and did not attribute it to Ahmad.
