Three legal precedents were established through the case of Barirah. The first was that when she was freed, she was given the choice regarding her marriage. The second was that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said concerning her, "The right of inheritance through clientage belongs to the one who frees the slave."The third was when the Prophet ﷺ entered while a pot was boiling with meat in it. Bread and some sauce from the household's provisions were brought to him.The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Did I not see a pot containing meat?"They replied, "Yes, Messenger of Allah, but that is meat given as charity to Barirah, and you do not eat charity."The Prophet ﷺ said, "It is charity for her, but a gift for us."
