When twenty-nine nights had passed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came in to me. He began with me first. I said, "Messenger of Allah, you swore that you would not come in to us for a month, yet you have come in on the twenty-ninth, I have been counting them."He replied, "The month is twenty-nine days."Then he said, "Ayesha, I am going to mention something to you, so do not be hasty about it until you have consulted your parents." Then he recited to me the verse, "Prophet, say to your wives..." until he reached "a great reward" [Ahzab 33:28–29].Ayesha said, He knew well that my parents would never have ordered me to part from him. So I said, "Is it about this that I should consult my parents? Indeed, I desire Allah and His Messenger and the abode of the Hereafter."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق عن معمر قال قال الزهري فأخبرني عروة
فلما مضت تسع وعشرون ليلة دخل علي رسول الله ﷺ قالت بدأ بي فقلت يا رسول الله إنك أقسمت أن لا تدخل علينا شهرا وإنك قد دخلت من تسع وعشرين أعدهن فقال إن الشهر تسع وعشرون ثم قال يا عائشة إني ذاكر لك أمرا فلا عليك أن لا تعجلي فيه حتى تستأمري أبويك ثم قرأ علي الآية {يا أيها النبي قل لأزواجك} حتى بلغ {أجرا عظيما} قالت عائشة قد علم أن أبوي لم يكونا يأمراني بفراقه قالت فقلت أفي هذا أستأمر أبوي فإني أريد الله ورسوله والدار الآخرة
