The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever sees me in a dream has truly seen me, for Satan cannot take my form."Affan said on one occasion, "cannot impersonate me."
حدثنا عفان حدثنا أبو عوانة عن جابر عن عمار عن سعيد بن جبير قال حدثني عبد الله لم ينسبه عفان أكثر من
قال رسول الله ﷺ من رآني في المنام فإياي رأى فإن الشيطان لا يتخيل بي وقال عفان مرة لا يتخيلني
Its isnad is daif due to the weakness of Jabir Jafi. Ammar is Ibn Muawiya Dahni. Ibn Majah related the hadith (2:234) through Abu Awana. Its meaning will come again at greater length with another isnad (3410). The meaning of the hadith is sahih and firmly established, coming through the hadith of Ibn Masud, Abu Hurairah, Abu Qatada, Anas, and others. See the commentary of Tirmidhi (3:248-249).
