When the verse of choice was revealed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called me and said, "Ayesha, I want to mention something to you, so do not decide anything about it without consulting your parents."She asked, "What is it?"She said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called me and recited to me this verse, "O Prophet, say to your wives... if you desire Allah and His Messenger and the abode of the Hereafter..." [Ahzab 33:28–29], the entire verse.She said, "I replied, 'I have chosen Allah and His Messenger.'"She said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was delighted by that.
حدثنا يحيى بن إسحاق أخبرنا أبو عوانة عن عمر بن أبي سلمة عن أبيه
لما نزلت آية الخيار دعاني رسول الله ﷺ فقال يا عائشة إني أريد أن أذكر لك أمرا فلا تقضين فيه شيئا دون أبويك فقالت ما هو قالت فدعاني رسول الله ﷺ فقرأ علي هذه الآية {يا أيها النبي قل لأزواجك} {إن كنتن تردن الله ورسوله} … {والدار الآخرة} الآية كلها قالت فقلت قد اخترت الله ورسوله قالت ففرح لذلك رسول الله ﷺ
