He entered with Ubayd bin Umayr upon Ayesha, and Ubayd bin Umayr asked her how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite this verse, "those who give what they give" or "those who are given what they are given."She asked, "Which of the two is dearer to you?"He replied, "By Allah, one of them is dearer to me than such and such."She asked, "Which one?"He said, "Those who give what they give."She said, "I bear witness that this is how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite it, and this is how it was revealed, but the spelling differs by a letter."
