Ayesha reported,

We asked her whether the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had forbidden eating the meat of sacrificial animals after three days. She replied, "He only said that in a year when the people were suffering from hunger, and he wanted those who had plenty to feed those in need. We used to set aside a shank and eat from it fifteen days later."I asked, "What forced you to do that?"She laughed and said, "The family of Muhammad ﷺ never had their fill of seasoned bread for three nights in a row until he passed on to Allah ."

حدثنا عبد الرزاق قال أخبرنا سفيان عن عبد الرحمن بن عابس عن أبيه عابس بن ربيعة

عن عائشة قال

سألناها أكان رسول الله ﷺ نهى أن تؤكل لحوم الأضاحي بعد ثلاث فقالت ما قاله إلا في عام جاع الناس فيه فأراد أن يطعم الغني الفقير وقد كنا نرفع الكراع فنأكلها بعد خمس عشرة قلت فما اضطركم إلى ذلك قال فضحكت وقالت ما شبع آل محمد ﷺ من خبز مأدوم ثلاث ليال حتى لحق بالله عز وجل
