The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whatever is given to make a woman's intimacy lawful, whether as dower or compensation, belongs to her. But whatever is given as a gift of honor to her father, her brother, or her guardian after the marriage contract has been concluded belongs to him. And the most deserving of being honored with such a gift is the man's daughter and his sister."
