Ata bin Yasar reported,
A man came and spoke ill of Ali and Ammar, may Allah be pleased with them, in the presence of Ayesha. She said, "As for Ali, I will say nothing to you about him. But as for Ammar, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'He is never given a choice between two matters except that he chooses the more rightly guided of them.'"

عن عطاء بن يسار قال
جاء رجل فوقع في علي وفي عمار رضي الله تعالى عنهما عند عائشة فقالت أما علي فلست قائلة لك فيه شيئا وأما عمار فإني سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول لا يخير بين أمرين إلا اختار أرشدهما
Its chain of transmission is sahih, though there is some discussion about whether Ata heard directly from Ayesha. Abdullah bin Habib is Ibn Abu Thabit, who narrates from his father. He is trustworthy, and his hadith is found in Sahih Muslim, while his father is trustworthy and his hadith is found among the group of hadith scholars.Tirmidhi related this hadith 5/668, no. 3799, and said, "Hasan gharib." This reflects Tirmidhi's caution regarding this narration, and he means that the chain is hasan while the text is unusual, since it would be strange for such words to come from Ayesha. Yet a human being might say something like this out of rivalry, as happens among the living, just as she herself said 
, for every child of Adam is not free from that.Nasai also related it in Fadail al-Sahabah, no. 171, as did Ibn Majah 1/52, no. 148, and Hakim graded it sahih 3/388, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
