The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would be intimate with his wife at the beginning of the night, then sleep without touching water. When he awoke at the end of the night, he would return to his wife and then perform the ritual bath.
حدثنا عبد الله بن يزيد عن سفيان وذكر رجلا آخر عن سفيان عن أبي إسحاق عن الأسود
كان رسول الله ﷺ يصيب من أهله من أول الليل ثم ينام ولا يمس ماء فإذا استيقظ من آخر الليل عاد إلى أهله واغتسل
Its isnad is sahih, from its first route, and the hadith has already appeared at 24043.
