Ayesha said, "The wife of Uthman bin Mazun used to dye her hands with henna and wear perfume, but then she gave it up. She came in to see me, and I asked her, 'Is your husband home or away?'She replied, "He is home, but it is as though he were away."I asked her, "What is the matter with you?"She said, "Uthman wants nothing of this world and wants nothing of women."Ayesha continued, "Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came in to me, and I told him about this. He met Uthman and said, 'Uthman, do you believe in what we believe in?'Uthman replied, "Yes, Messenger of Allah."The Prophet said, "Then follow our example."
حدثنا مؤمل قال حدثنا حماد قال حدثنا إسحاق بن سويد عن أبي فاختة عن عائشة بمثله وزاد فيه أن النبي ﷺ قال لعثمان أتؤمن بما نؤمن به قال نعم يا رسول الله قال فاصنع كما نصنع
