The Prophet ﷺ said, "There will be people in the latter days who dye their hair with this black dye." Husayn said, "Like the breasts of pigeons. They will not catch the fragrance of Paradise."
Its isnad is sahih. Abdul-Kareem is Ibn Malik Jazari. Abu Dawud narrated the hadith at 4:139, and there he stated explicitly that it is from Abdul-Kareem Jazari. Al-Hafiz mentioned it in Al-Qawl Al-Musaddad, 41-42, and said, Ibn Jawzi included it in Al-Mawduat by way of Abu Qasim Baghawi, from Hashim bin Harith, from Ubaydullah bin Amr, with this wording. He said, this hadith is not sound from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the one suspected of fabricating it is Abdul-Kareem bin Abu Mukhariq, Abu Umaya Basri, then he transmitted the judgment of daif on him from a group of scholars.I say, he erred in that, for the hadith mentioned is from the narration of Abdul-Kareem Jazari, the trustworthy narrator whose hadiths are included in the Sahih. This hadith has been narrated from this route by Abu Dawud, Nasai, and Ibn Hibban in his Sahih. Al-Hafiz then mentioned that Hakim, Abu Yaala, and Hafiz Diya Deen Maqdisi in Al-Ahadith Al-Mukhtarah mimma Laysa fi Sahihayn narrated it from this same route as well."La yarhamun" means they do not smell it and do not perceive its scent. It is said, "raha yarih" and "raha yurah" and "araha yurih", meaning to perceive the scent of a thing.
