Umm Habiba bint Jahsh suffered from prolonged bleeding for seven years while she was married to Abdul-Rahman bin Awf. She complained about this to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Prophet ﷺ said, "This is not menstruation, but rather a blood vessel. So when your menstrual period begins, leave off the prayer, and when it ends, perform a full bath and then pray."Ayesha said, "She used to take a full bath for every prayer and then pray. She would sit in a basin belonging to her sister Zaynab bint Jahsh, and the redness of the blood would rise to the surface of the water."
حدثنا أبو المغيرة قال حدثنا الأوزاعي قال حدثني الزهري عن عروة عن عمرة بنت عبد الرحمن بن سعد بن زرارة أن
استحيضت أم حبيبة بنت جحش وهي تحت عبد الرحمن بن عوف سبع سنين فشكت ذلك إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقال النبي ﷺ إن هذا ليست بالحيضة وإنما هو عرق فإذا أقبلت الحيضة فدعي الصلاة وإذا أدبرت فاغتسلي ثم صلي قالت عائشة فكانت تغتسل لكل صلاة ثم تصلي وكانت تقعد في مركن لأختها زينب بنت جحش حتى أن حمرة الدم لتعلو الماء
