A man was mentioned in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, "What a wretched man he is, the brother of the clan." Then the man came in to see him, and the Prophet ﷺ began speaking with him. I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ turning his face toward him so warmly that I thought the man held a special place with him.
حدثنا عبد الصمد حدثنا شعبة قال حدثنا إبراهيم بن ميمون عن أبي الأحوص عن مسروق
أن رجلا ذكر عند رسول الله ﷺ فقال بئس عبد الله أخو العشيرة ثم دخل عليه فجعل يكلمه ثم رأيت رسول الله ﷺ يقبل عليه بوجهه حتى ظننت أن له عنده منزلة
Its chain of transmission is sahih, its narrators are well-known thiqahs, and the hadith has already been mentioned at 23938.
