Ayesha reported,

When the verse of the choice was revealed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called me and said, "Ayesha, I want to mention a matter to you, so do not decide anything regarding it without consulting your parents."She asked, "What is it?"She said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ then called me and recited to me this verse, "Prophet, say to your wives, 'If you desire Allah and His Messenger and the home of the Hereafter...'" [Ahzab 33:28–29], the entire verse.She said, I replied, "I have chosen Allah and His Messenger."She said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was delighted by that.

حدثنا يحيى بن إسحاق قال أخبرنا أبو عوانة عن عمر بن أبي سلمة عن أبيه

عن عائشة قالت

لما نزلت آية الخيار دعاني رسول الله ﷺ فقال يا عائشة إني أريد أن أذكر لك أمرا فلا تقضين فيه شيئا دون أبويك فقالت وما هو قالت فدعاني رسول الله ﷺ فقرأ علي هذه الآية {يا أيها النبي قل لأزواجك} {إن كنتن تردن الله ورسوله} … {والدار الآخرة} الآية كلها قالت فقلت قد اخترت الله عز وجل ورسوله قالت ففرح بذلك رسول الله ﷺ
