Ayesha said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say, "No prophet's soul is taken until he is shown his reward, then his soul is returned to him and he is given the choice between having it returned or joining the highest company."Ayesha continued, "I had memorized this from him. While I was supporting him against my chest, I looked at him as his neck began to tilt, and I said, 'He has passed away.' Then I recalled what he had said, so I looked at him until he raised his gaze and looked upward. I said, 'By Allah, then he will not choose us.' He said, 'With the highest company in Paradise, 'with those upon whom Allah has bestowed favor of the prophets and the truthful'' [Nisa 4:69]," to the end of the verse.
