A man asked permission to enter upon the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, "Let him in. What a wretched member of his clan," or, "What a wretched brother of his clan." On another occasion he said, "What a wretched man." But when the man entered, the Prophet ﷺ spoke gently with him.After the man left, Ayesha said, "You said about him what you said, and then you spoke gently with him."He replied, "Ayesha, the worst of people in standing before Allah on the Day of Resurrection is the one whom people avoid, or whom people abandon, out of fear of his vulgarity."
حدثنا سفيان أخبرنا ابن المنكدر قال أخبرني عروة بن الزبير أن
أن رجلا استأذن على النبي ﷺ فقال ائذنوا له فبئس ابن العشيرة أو بئس أخو العشيرة وقال مرة رجل فلما دخل عليه ألان له القول فلما خرج قالت عائشة قلت له الذي قلت ثم ألنت له القول فقال أي عائشة شر الناس منزلة عند الله يوم القيامة من ودعه الناس أو تركه الناس اتقاء فحشه
Its isnad is sahih, and Hasan bin Ubaydullah is trustworthy and virtuous, his hadith appears in Muslim and in the Sunan works. The hadith was narrated by Bukhari 10/452 no. 3132 in the Book of Manners, Muslim 4/2002 no. 2591 in the Book of Righteousness, and Abu Dawud 4/251 no. 4791 in the Book of Manners.
