He was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when Suhar of Abdul-Qays came and said, "Messenger of Allah, what do you say about a drink we make in our land from our fruits?"The Prophet of Allah ﷺ turned away from him, and the man repeated his question three times, until the Prophet stood up to pray. When he had finished his prayer, the Prophet said, "Where is the one who asked about intoxicants? Do not drink it, and do not give it to your Muslim brother to drink. By the One in whose hand my soul rests," or, "By the One by whom one swears, no man drinks it seeking the pleasure of its intoxication except that Allah will make him drink khamr on the Day of Resurrection."
