Saeed bin Saad bin Ubada reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ visited Saad bin Ubada, and Saad said, "Messenger of Allah, if I find a man on top of my wife, may I strike him with my sword?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "What evidence could be clearer than the sword?"Then he reconsidered his answer and said, "The Book of Allah and witnesses are required."Saad said, "Messenger of Allah, what evidence could be clearer than the sword?"He answered, "The Book of Allah and witnesses. People of the Ansar, this is your chief, jealousy has provoked him until he has gone against the Book of Allah."A man said, "Messenger of Allah, Saad is a jealous man. He has never divorced a woman whom any of us could dare to marry afterward, because of his jealousy."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Saad is jealous, but I am more jealous than he is, and Allah is more jealous than I am."A man asked, "Over what does Allah become jealous?"He replied, "Over a man who strives in the path of Allah while another goes behind his back to his family."

حدثنا يونس: حدثنا أبو معشر عن عبد الوهاب

عن عمرو بن شرحبيل بن سعيد بن سعد بن عبادة، يحدث عن أبيه، عن جده، قال

حضر رسول الله ﷺ سعد بن عبادة فقال: يا رسول الله، إن وجدت على بطن امرأتي رجلا أضربه بسيفي؟ قال: أي بينة أبين من السيف؟ قال: ثم رجع عن قوله، فقال: كتاب الله والشهداء. قال سعد: يا رسول الله، أي بينة أبين من السيف؟ قال: كتاب الله والشهداء أيا معشر الأنصار، هذا سيدكم استفزته الغيرة، حتى خالف كتاب الله. قال: فقال رجل: يا رسول الله، إن سعدا غيور، وما طلق امرأة قط قدر أحد منا أن يتزوجها لغيرته. قال: فقال رسول الله ﷺ: سعد غيور، وأنا أغير منه، والله أغير مني. قال رجل: على أي شيء يغار الله؟ قال: على رجل مجاهد في سبيل الله يخالف إلى أهله.
