The Messenger of Allah ﷺ heard a man supplicating during his prayer without praising Allah or invoking blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "This man has been hasty."Then he called him over and said to him and to others, "When one of you prays, let him begin by praising his Lord and extolling Him, then let him invoke blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ, and after that let him supplicate for whatever he wishes."
Its isnad is sahih. Humayd bin Hani is trustworthy, and his hadith is found in Muslim. Amr bin Malik Janabi is trustworthy, and his hadith is found in the four (Sunan). The hadith was narrated by Tirmidhi, 5/517, no. 3477, and he said, hasan sahih. Also by Nasai, 3/44, no. 1284, and Ibn Hibban, 136, no. 510 (Mawarid). Hakim graded it sahih, 1/230, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
