He was asking Bilal how the Prophet ﷺ wiped over his leather socks. Bilal said, "He went out to relieve himself, then called for a mitharah, meaning a water vessel. He washed his face and his hands, then wiped over his leather socks and over the cloth of his turban."Abdul-Razzaq said, "Then he called for a mitharah, that is, a water vessel."

يسأل بلالا كيف مسح النبي ﷺ على الخفين قال تبرز ثم دعا بمطهرة أي إداوة فغسل وجهه ويديه ثم مسح على خفيه وعلى خمار العمامة قال عبد الرزاق ثم دعا بمطهرة بالإداوة
Its isnad is sahih. Abu Bakr bin Hafs bin Umar is Ibn Saad, whose name is Abdullah bin Hafs. Abu Abdul-Rahman is Bajali. Abu Abdullah is Sanabihi. They are all trustworthy and well-known narrators, and their hadith is found in the collections of the group of scholars. Abu Abdul-Rahman is not found in Bukhari. The hadith was mentioned previously at 23769.
