He informed him, and his father was among the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, that the Prophet ﷺ said, "Among the forms of jealousy..." and he mentioned the meaning of it, and said, "The pride that Allah loves is a man's display of pride in battle and his display of pride in giving charity. The pride that Allah detests is pride in transgression," or he said, "in boasting."

أخبره وكان أبوه من أصحاب رسول الله ﷺ أن النبي ﷺ قال إن من الغيرة فذكر معناه وقال الخيلاء التي يحب الله اختيال الرجل في القتال واختياله في الصدقة والخيلاء التي يبغض الله الخيلاء في البغي أو قال في الفخر
