The Prophet ﷺ said to me, "Do you know what Friday is?"I replied, "It is the day on which Allah brought together your father."He said, "But I know what Friday is. No man purifies himself thoroughly, then comes to the Friday prayer and listens silently until the imam finishes his prayer, except that it serves as an expiation for him for what is between it and the following Friday, so long as the major sins are avoided."
حدثنا هشيم عن مغيرة عن أبي معشر عن إبراهيم عن علقمة عن قرثع الضبي
قال لي النبي ﷺ أتدري ما يوم الجمعة قلت هو اليوم الذي جمع الله فيه أباكم قال لكني أدري ما يوم الجمعة لا يتطهر الرجل فيحسن طهوره ثم يأتي الجمعة فينصت حتى يقضي الإمام صلاته إلا كان كفارة له ما بينه وبين الجمعة المقبلة ما اجتنبت المقتلة
Its isnad is sahih. Abu Mashar is Ziyad bin Kulayb, and he is trustworthy, his hadith is in Muslim. Mughira is Ibn Muqsim Dabbi, and he is trustworthy, his hadith is in Muslim. Ibrahim is Nakhai, and Qurthaa is Dabbi, one of the senior Tabiin who was a mukhadram. The hadith was mentioned earlier at 23600.
