Mahmud bin Labeed reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When Allah loves a people, He tests them. Whoever bears it with patience, patience is his reward, and whoever gives way to despair, despair is all he gains."

وبهذا الإسناد أن رسول الله ﷺ قال إن الله عز وجل إذا أحب قوما ابتلاهم فمن صبر فله الصبر ومن جزع فله الجزع
