I brought a load of goods to Madinah during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When I had finished my selling, I said to myself, "I will go and find this man so I may hear from him directly."He came upon me while walking between Abu Bakr and Umar, so I followed along behind the three of them until they came upon a Jewish man who had spread open the Torah and was reading from it, consoling himself with it over a son of his who lay dying, a boy who was among the finest and most handsome of youths. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I adjure you by the One who revealed the Torah, do you find in your Book this description of me and my coming?"The man gestured with his head like this, meaning no.But his son said, "By the One who revealed the Torah, we do indeed find in our Book your description and your coming. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that you are the Messenger of Allah."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Move the Jews away from your brother."Then he himself took charge of shrouding him, perfumed him with camphor, and prayed over him.
