Those of the Prophet's ﷺ companions who used to teach us recitation told us that they would learn ten verses at a time from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and they would not move on to the next ten until they had mastered the knowledge and practice contained in them. They said, "So we learned both the knowledge and the practice together."
حدثنا محمد بن فضيل عن عطاء
حدثنا من كان يقرئنا من أصحاب النبي ﷺ أنهم كانوا يقترئون من رسول الله ﷺ عشر آيات فلا يأخذون في العشر الأخرى حتى يعلموا ما في هذه من العلم والعمل قالوا فعلمنا العلم والعمل
