I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one night to pray with him. He began the prayer and recited in a voice that was neither quiet nor loud, a beautiful recitation, measured and clear, letting us hear it.Then he bowed for about as long as he had stood, then raised his head and remained standing for about as long as he had bowed, saying, "Allah hears whoever praises Him." Then he said, "Praise be to Allah, Possessor of might, dominion, grandeur, and magnificence," continuing until he finished, while the darkness of the night was still upon him.Abdul-Malik said, "This was his voluntary night prayer."
