It was narrated that Hudhayfah asked for water, and someone brought him a silver vessel. He threw it at him and said, "I had forbidden him from this, but he refused to stop. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from drinking out of vessels of gold and silver, and from wearing silk and brocade, and he said, 'These are for them in this world and for you in the Hereafter.'"
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا شعبة عن الحكم قال سمعت
يحدث أن حذيفة استسقى فأتاه إنسان بإناء من فضة فرماه به وقال إني كنت قد نهيته فأبى أن ينتهي إن رسول الله ﷺ نهانا أن نشرب في آنية الذهب والفضة وعن لبس الحرير والديباج وقال هو لهم في الدنيا ولكم في الآخرة
