I used to work and tend the land in Dinbadh. Then Yala bin Umaya arrived as governor of Yemen, and Some men from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ came with him.One of the men who had come with him approached me while I was in the field directing water to the crops. He had walnuts in his sleeve, and he sat down by an irrigation channel, breaking the walnuts and eating them. Then he gestured to Fanj and said, "Persian, come here."I drew near to him, and the man said to Fanj, "Will you guarantee for me, so that I may plant some of these walnuts along this water channel?"Fanj said to him, "What benefit would that bring me?"The man said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say with these two ears of mine, 'Whoever plants a tree and patiently tends to it and looks after it until it bears fruit, every bit of its fruit that is harvested counts for him as charity in the sight of Allah.'"Fanj said to him, "Did you yourself hear this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"He replied, "Yes."Fanj said, "Then I will guarantee it." And from those are the walnuts of Dinbadh.
حدثنا عبد الرزاق أخبرنا داود بن قيس الصنعاني حدثني عبد الله بن وهب عن أبيه
كنت أعمل في الدينباذ وأعالج فيه فقدم يعلى بن أمية أميرا على اليمن وجاء معه رجال من أصحاب النبي ﷺ فجاءني رجل ممن قدم معه وأنا في الزرع أصرف الماء في الزرع ومعه في كمه جوز فجلس على ساقية من الماء وهو يكسر من ذلك الجوز ويأكله ثم أشار إلى فنج فقال يا فارسي هلم فدنوت منه فقال الرجل لفنج أتضمن لي وأغرس من هذا الجوز على هذا الماء فقال له فنج ما ينفعني ذلك قال فقال الرجل سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول بأذني هاتين من نصب شجرة فصبر على حفظها والقيام عليها حتى تثمر كان له في كل شيء يصاب من ثمرها صدقة عند الله فقال له فنج أنت سمعت هذا من رسول الله ﷺ فقال نعم قال نعم فقال فنج فأنا أضمنها فمنها جوز الدينباذ
