Thirty of the Prophet's ﷺ companions gathered together and said, "As for the prayers in which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited aloud, we know what he recited. But as for the prayers in which he did not recite aloud, we cannot measure them by analogy with those in which he did."So they assembled, and not two of them differed that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite about thirty verses in the first two rakahs of the noon prayer, in each rakah, and in the last two rakahs about half that amount. In the afternoon prayer, in the first two rakahs he would recite about half of what he recited in the first two rakahs of the noon prayer, and in the last two rakahs about half of that.
حدثنا يزيد أخبرنا المسعودي عن زيد العمي عن أبي نضرة عن أبي سعيد قال يزيد أخبرنا سفيان عن زيد العمي
اجتمع ثلاثون من أصحاب النبي ﷺ فقالوا أما ما يجهر فيه رسول الله ﷺ بالقراءة فقد علمناه وما لا يجهر فيه فلا نقيس بما يجهر به قال فاجتمعوا فما اختلف منهم اثنان أن رسول الله ﷺ كان يقرأ في صلاة الظهر قدر ثلاثين آية في الركعتين الأوليين في كل ركعة وفي الركعتين الأخريين قدر النصف من ذلك ويقرأ في العصر في الأوليين بقدر النصف من قراءته في الركعتين الأوليين من الظهر وفي الأخريين قدر النصف من ذلك
