The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed us, saying, "People, the pilgrimage has been prescribed for you."Aqra bin Habis stood up and asked, "Every year, Messenger of Allah?"He replied, "Had I said yes, it would have become obligatory, and had it become obligatory, you would not have carried it out," or, "you would not have been able to carry it out. So whoever performs it more than once, that is voluntary."
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Sulayman bin Kathir Abu Dawud Abdi Wasiti, Nasai said, "There is no harm in him, except regarding Zuhri, for he makes mistakes in narrating from him." Bukhari and Muslim and others narrated from him, and he was not the only one to narrate this hadith from Zuhri, as will come.Abu Sinan is Dawuli, whose name is Yazid bin Umaya. He is a trustworthy Follower, and it was mentioned earlier at 93 that he visited Umar bin Khattab. He has nothing in the Six Books except this hadith. Abu Dawud narrated it at 2:70-71 and Ibn Majah at 2:108, both by way of Sufyan bin Husayn, and Nasai narrated it at 2:2 by way of Abdul-Jalil bin Humayd, both of them from Zuhri.
