The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went to the tribe of Banu Amr bin Awf to reconcile a dispute among them. He then mentioned the hadith and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gestured to him to remain in his place. Abu Bakr raised his hands to the sky and praised Allah for what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had instructed him to do. Then Abu Bakr stepped back until he was aligned in the row, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stepped forward and led the prayer." He then mentioned the same meaning as the hadith of Hammad bin Salama.
قال قرأت على عبد الرحمن: مالك عن أبي حازم بن دينار
أن رسول الله ﷺ ذهب إلى بني عمرو بن عوف ليصلح بينهم فذكر الحديث قال فأشار إليه رسول الله ﷺ أن امكث مكانك فرفع أبو بكر يديه إلى السماء فحمد الله على ما أمره به رسول الله ﷺ من ذلك ثم استأخر أبو بكر حتى استوى في الصف وتقدم رسول الله ﷺ فصلى فذكر مثل معنى حديث حماد بن سلمة
