Ubada bin Samit reported,

Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw the new crescent moon, he would say, "Allah is greatest. All praise belongs to Allah. There is no power and no strength except through Allah. Allah, I ask You for the good of this month, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of fate and from a wretched gathering on the Day of Resurrection."

عن عبادة بن الصامت قال

كان رسول الله ﷺ إذا رأى الهلال قال الله أكبر الحمد لله لا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله اللهم إني أسألك خير هذا الشهر وأعوذ بك من شر القدر ومن سوء الحشر
