Ubada bin Samit reported,

One night the Prophet ﷺ could not be found by his companions. Whenever they made camp, they used to place him in the middle of them. They became alarmed and thought that Allah had chosen other companions for him in their place. Then suddenly they caught sight of the Prophet's ﷺ silhouette and shouted the takbir when they saw him.They said, "Messenger of Allah, we feared that Allah had chosen companions for you other than us."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "No, rather you are my companions in this world and in the hereafter. Allah the Exalted woke me and said, 'Muhammad, I have not sent any prophet or messenger without granting him a request he asked of Me. So ask, Muhammad, and you will be given.' I said, 'My request is intercession for my community on the Day of Resurrection.'"Abu Bakr asked, "Messenger of Allah, what is the intercession?"He said, "I will say, 'My Lord, my intercession which I stored away with You.' The Lord will say, 'Yes.' Then my Lord will bring out the remainder of my community from the Fire and cast them into Paradise."

حدثنا الحكم بن نافع حدثنا إسماعيل بن عياش عن راشد بن داود الصنعاني عن عبد الرحمن بن حسان عن روح بن زنباع

عن عبادة بن الصامت قال

فقد النبي ﷺ ليلة أصحابه وكانوا إذا نزلوا أنزلوه أوسطهم ففزعوا وظنوا أن الله تبارك وتعالى اختار له أصحابا غيرهم فإذا هم بخيال النبي ﷺ فكبروا حين رأوه قالوا يا رسول الله أشفقنا أن يكون الله تبارك وتعالى اختار لك أصحابا غيرنا فقال رسول الله ﷺ لا بل أنتم أصحابي في الدنيا والآخرة إن الله تعالى أيقظني فقال يا محمد إني لم أبعث نبيا ولا رسولا إلا وقد سألني مسألة أعطيتها إياه فاسأل يا محمد تعط فقلت مسألتي شفاعة لأمتي يوم القيامة فقال أبو بكر يا رسول الله وما الشفاعة قال أقول يا رب شفاعتي التي اختبأت عندك فيقول الرب تبارك وتعالى نعم فيخرج ربي تبارك وتعالى بقية أمتي من النار فينبذهم في الجنة
