Abdullah bin Ubayd reported,

Their lodging brought Ubada bin Samit and Muawiya together, either in a church or a synagogue. Ubada stood up and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us to exchange gold for gold, silver for silver, dates for dates, wheat for wheat, and barley for barley." One of the two narrators added, "and salt for salt," while the other did not mention it. And one of them said, "Whoever gives more or takes more has engaged in usury," while the other did not say it. "And he commanded us to sell gold for silver, silver for gold, wheat for barley, and barley for wheat, hand to hand, in whatever proportion we wished."

وعبد الله بن عبيد وقد كان يدعى ابن هرمز قال

جمع المنزل بين عبادة بن الصامت وبين معاوية إما في كنيسة وإما في بيعة فقام عبادة فقال نهانا رسول الله ﷺ عن الذهب بالذهب والورق بالورق والتمر بالتمر والبر بالبر والشعير بالشعير وقال أحدهما والملح بالملح ولم يقله الآخر وقال أحدهما من زاد أو ازداد فقد أربى ولم يقله الآخر وأمرنا أن نبيع الذهب بالفضة والفضة بالذهب والبر بالشعير والشعير بالبر يدا بيد كيف شئنا
