Ubada bin Samit reported,

I taught some of the people of the Suffah how to write and recite the Quran, and one of them gave me a bow as a gift. I said to myself, "This is not real wealth, and I can shoot with it in the cause of Allah" .So I asked the Prophet ﷺ about it, and he said, "If it would please you to be collared with a collar of fire, then accept it."

حدثنا وكيع حدثنا مغيرة بن زياد عن عبادة بن نسي عن الأسود بن ثعلبة

عن عبادة بن الصامت قال

علمت ناسا من أهل الصفة الكتابة والقرآن فأهدى إلي رجل منهم قوسا ليست لي بمال وأرمي عنها في سبيل الله تبارك وتعالى فسألت النبي ﷺ فقال إن سرك أن تطوق بها طوقا من نار فاقبلها
