Ubada bin Samit reported,

The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Whom do you consider a martyr among yourselves?"They replied, "The one who fights and is killed in the cause of Allah the Exalted."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "In that case, the martyrs of my nation would be few. The one slain in the cause of Allah is a martyr, the one who dies of plague is a martyr, the one who dies of an abdominal illness is a martyr, and the woman who dies in childbirth is a martyr," meaning one who dies during the postpartum period.

أن النبي ﷺ قال ما تعدون الشهيد فيكم قالوا الذي يقاتل فيقتل في سبيل الله تعالى فقال رسول الله ﷺ إن شهداء أمتي إذا لقليل القتيل في سبيل الله تبارك وتعالى شهيد والمطعون شهيد والمبطون شهيد والمرأة تموت بجمع شهيد يعني النفساء
